The highlight of Fort Lauderdale’s Pride week is the Stonewall Street Festival and Parade. Named after the famous NYC riots that initiated the gay rights movement, this parade is still a celebration of our human rights in today’s society, HIV/AIDS awareness and diversity. This famous Pride event starts with a street festival early in the afternoon, followed by the parade and club dancing on the closed down Wilton Manors’ drive. This year’s event brought over 25 thousand people who celebrated gay pride in Ft. Lauderdale. EDGE joined this big party, here are the pics!

Pridefest South Florida 2011 started with Fort Lauderdale’s famous Pride Fest at Jaco Pastorius Park, Dixie Highway and NE 40th Ct in Oakland Park. Organized by Pride South Florida, a 501 c-3 non-profit organization consisting of individuals interested in promoting positive images of gays, lesbians, and transgender people. To provide the South Florida community with various functions throughout the year, to promote and engage in educational, civic and cultural activities in order to enrich the lives of gays, lesbians, bisexual, and transgender people and the community as a whole, and to work together to achieve common goals.
