Summer Colors for a Fresh Face!

PJ Gach READ TIME: 12 MIN.

Summertime is here, that is if you?ve been able to get out of your office pod. This is the time to flirt, go on weekend breaks and most importantly change your face. No, I?m not talking about plastic surgery, I?m talking about cosmetics. When you?re wearing lighter brighter colors you want your face to be in the same season.

Foundation

Let?s start with the basics; your foundation. First of all, you should go a bit lighter in texture and potions. It?s hot out, so look for foundations that will let your skin breathe and have an SPF.

Napoleon Perdis? Auto-Pilot is a pre-foundation skin primer. It contains yarrow, chamomile, and Vitamin E for skin smoothers, hydraters and soothers. It will also keep your face (base etc.,) from slipping in the heat. Don?t feel like wearing a base, wear it under pressed powder or mix it with a bronzer for a healthy glow.

Chanel Precision Hydramax + Tinted Moisture Boost Lotion is a tinted moisturizer with an SPF 15. It?s a perfect two-in-one product, moisturizer and lightweight foundation. Hydramax contains extract of Butterfly Lavender, Sea fennel and moisturizers to lock the moisture in. It comes in two shades, Sunlit and Bronzelit.

Chanel?s Purete Mat Shine Control Powder not only has an SPF 15, and stops shine, but it can be used as a foundation. The double-side puff can either give you more coverage (with the sponge side) or sheer pressed powder with the flocked side. Not only is it somehow a bit sexier powdering your nose when you?ve flicked open a Chanel compact; the powder also contains vitamin E and Moringa Extract from certain sections of Asia and Africa, which will protect your skin from the pollution and won?t clog pores.

A wonderful all over highlight is Becca?s Bird of Paradise. This creamy sheer highlighter can be used on eyes, cheeks and lips to highlight your features.

Going away for the weekend? Throw one of Napoleon Perdis palette collections in your makeup bag and you?re done. There are three palettes; Actif, Rendezvous, and J?TAdore. Each palette contains six colors that can be used on cheeks, eyes, anywhere!

For an all over sophisticated glow, try Shine On by Make Up For Ever. It?s a wondrous product that will give you that Jennifer Lopez ?walking down the red carpet? type radiance. Shine On will work with every complexion; Goth White to Nubian Queen. Diamonds have been traditionally called a girl?s best friend, it?s now time for them to move over, Shine On is your new bestest friend and your secret weapon. It will make you movie star glamorous in a wink of an eye.

Let’s Get Cheeky!

For a cheeky glow MAC?s summer collection D?Bohemia has two cr?me blushes to look out for. Fancy Ray is a soft sweet rosy mauve that works well with red and coral lips. Cherche is a neutral blush, a pit on the peach side that perks up a tan.

For fun and funky cheeks, check out Stila?s Malibu Canyon Collection. Jeanne Lobel has created Color Push-Ups in four cool colors ranging from fuschia peachy-pink. Use them as a blush, highlighter, you can even slick them on your lips.

Since we?re talking about cr?me blushes, here?s a trick you can use to make them last all day. After you?ve completed your visage, simply apply translucent powder all over your face. It ?sets? the make up, cuts down on shine and leaves you looking flawless.

Lips: Balms

And when choosing your blush, don?t forget to have a coordinating lip color. It doesn?t have to come from the same cosmetic company, but your lip color should be in same color family as your cheeks. Remember Mimi from The Drew Carey Show, do the opposite of what she did and you?ll be fine.

For sheer color with the taste of apples, check out DKNY Be Delicious SPF 10 lip balm. Yeah, it?s for boys, but it tastes and smells like apples, leaves lips soft, why should they have all the fun. Don?t lend it out; you?ll never get it back.

Another lip smacking delight is Mario Russo?s Olive Lip Balm. A combination of Olive, Almond and Canola oils soften lips naturally. The beeswax base acts as a natural shield against the elements, Vitamin E is an antioxidant, and shea butter acts as a sun shield. All of this in a tiny balm, small packages can be big pleasers. It?s wonderful alone or over lipstick for extra shine.

If you?re looking for sheer color Stila?s Malibu Canyon?s Lip Shine are light glosses with clear color for subtle smiles.

Lips: Color

Chloe is a pinky-brown nude that can be found in Napoleon Perdis? Goddess Collection of Lip Sticks. Another great peach nude lipstick Napoleon Perdis? Commander Peach from their Lip Patrol collection. Swimming in glossy shine, it?s lightweight but lasts longer than gloss. In keeping with a nude but tasty mouth, try Diane Brill?s Lip Lingerie lipsticks. Not only do they contain grape seed oil (an antioxidant), chamomile and milk proteins to soothe your lips, her lipsticks contain plumpers; giving you a full pouty mouth. Try her Nude Negligee or Marabou Feather for soft color. These pout punchers are perfect for that unmade up look favored by Sandra Bullock and Angelina Jolie.

For gloss with a bit more color and the exotic taste of lychee nuts, Anna Sui?s Gem Treasure Collection Sui Rouge S is a limited edition of tasty shades. Two to definitely tuck in your purse are 377 and 376. They don?t have romantic names, but their colors can bring on kisses. 376 is a sheer pale plum-pink shot with gold, and 377 is a very glossy pink with silver highlights.

Dianne Brill?s Lip Lingerie has more than nudes in palette. The line is full of hot summer colors that also pack a punch of color; French Cut Panty is a cool pink that begs to be licked off, and Velvet Corset is a metallic berry that will put a gleam in someone?s eye.

Looking for more glamour, then you know you need to hit the MAC counter. A stand out gloss for now until deep fall is their Gitane; an orangey red frosted punch of color that glistens. It works with every skin tone and will make your lips a focal point (isn?t that the point?) and their limited edition La Mode lipstick (pale apricot-ey coral) is perfect for tans.

To add high a gloss to your lips, look no further than Dianne Brill?s lip gloss. The glosses come in individual bon bon boxes. The glosses contain real itsy bitsy pieces of sterling silver and 20% of vitamins, antioxidants, humectants and a plumper to really show off your lips. Buff Babydoll is a super sheer gloss that can be applied over anything (including naked lips) for stoplight shine.

Lips: Liners

Try mixing it over either Dianne Brill?s many lip liners (one end is a brush) or Chanel?s Le Crayon Gloss. Both lip liners can be used as color instead of lining the lips, and when combined with gloss, they really last a long time. If you?re looking for something neutral that you can wear every day, try Chanel?s Le Crayon Gloss in Mandarine. It?s a rich coral red that?s great with dress up or jeans. Other Chanel modern classic colors for lips include; Grenadine (cherry red) and Chocolat (nude brown). The thin little liners are packed with humectants to keep lips hydrated.

Now if you are constantly on the run, you will fall in love with Pixi?s Lip Blush. It?s a lip color that looks like a marker; the colors last all day long, even in the shower. You get bright pigmented colors that won?t come off no matter what you do (these have been seriously road tested).

Going out at night is a wonderful excuse to have glimmery lips. Sally Hansen?s Diamond Lip Treatment comes in twelve shades. In the wands are Vitamins A, C, E, shea butter, lip smoothers, optical diffusers and crystalline technology. You?ll lips will have a multi-faceted shine, look full, luminous and most importantly, kissable.

The Eyes: Those Lashes...

They say that the eyes are the window of the soul, okay I know I?m stretching, but I am trying to move on to dressing your eyes. The absolute best, amazing and fantastic mascara to come down the pike in many a year is Diane Brill?s Lash Lingerie. One flick of her Lash Lace Mascara; your lashes are thicker, longer, luxurious and minx-like. Only one coat is needed to experience this lash explosion. It washes off easily. The Lash Lace Mascara doesn?t run even when you?re sobbing through movies or laughing your butt off.

What to do if you?ve got a ton of baby lashes? Try Ms. Brill?s Bra and Panties. It?s a brow and lash base made up of creamy rich fibers that fills in over-tweezed brows and strengthens tiny lashes. Simply follow up with either brow pencil or mascara (depending on where you placed the base) and voila! Lusciousness.

Faking It

Speaking of lashes- if you?re planning on a night of seduction, try this little tool. Ms. Brill has come up with a wardrobe of lashes, all snugly kept in a tiny hatbox with lace trim. There are three styles to play with; sparkly lashes, full ones, and sweeps that you adhere to the edges of your own for extra flirtiness.

The Eyes: Shadows

An eye shadow collection that will please everyone is the Stila Malibu Canyon eye shadow sticks. These creamy colors will last over eight hours, easy to blend, contains gleamers for a soft shine. They mix easily with powder shadows. If you?re looking for a smokey eye, use either Napoleon Perdis? Eye Patrol in Private Noir (a shimmery plum brown), MAC?s Skin Taupe (coppery plum dark brown), or their Rummy (a warm chocolate). Becca?s Jaquard (a warm copper brown) or their Lame (a silvery metallic brown) are other good options to mix with Stila?s Malibu Canyon pink or grey crayon.

Glittery superstar eyes can be found in Diane Brill?s Eye Lingerie shadows can be used wet or dry. There?s 14 shades to choose from; use Sugar Lace (white iridescent), Chantilly lace (matte vanilla) or Princess Lace (pearl pink) as a highlight; pair it with lace Stockings (black with blue sparkle), Metallic Lace (smoke with gold sparkle) or Venetian Lace (black pearl with green dual tone) as a contour. Becca?s Chintz eye shadow, a khaki green with gold shimmer adds some depth and glam to night eyes as well.

Line your eyes with MAC?s fluidline eyeliner in Shade. It?s a dark green that can be used with the ?naked? look, office visage and night glam. It all depends on where you place the liner and how thick or thin the line is drawn. Dianne Brill has Eye Jewelry; a glittery line or silver or gold that can placed over a liner for extra punch or by itself for a crushed diamond look.
